Formerly of Richfield

Lois Christensen
Richfield, Utah

Lois Roberts Christensen, age 97, passed away in Portland, Oregon, on September 21, 2023 from the effects of age and Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Annabella, on June 3, 1926, and lived, raised her family, served her Savior and her community, and loved her extended family and many friends, most of her life in Richfield. She was born to Herbert F. and Rosa Davis Roberts
and married Dan S. Christensen on May 6, 1961. They were sealed in the Manti Temple on April 8, 1975. They have a son, D. Gary Christensen. Dan preceded Lois in death in 2003.
Lois and her husband owned and successfully operated Christensen Hardware Co. on Main Street in Richfield for many years. After selling that business, Lois was an exceptional Realtor and broker for 12 more years. Lois served two terms on the Richfield City Council and as ward and stake Relief Society president, among many other callings. She served many years as a judge of election at the polls in Richfield. She graduated from South Sevier High School at age 16, during World War II, and was employed as a bookkeeper at Dominguez Oil Fields Co. in Los Angeles and at Telluride Power Co. in Richfield. She spearheaded the committee that provided perpetual care and grass at the Annabella City Cemetery. She enjoyed serving as a visiting teacher, was a member of Camp Kimberly of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and was a loyal fan of the Utah Jazz. During her two terms on the city council she rode on the city’s float for the 4th of July parade eight years — under protest each time. With her husband and family, she enjoyed being at Fish Lake and many other beautiful places in Southern Utah.
Lois loved her extended family, her many friends, and the cities of Richfield and Annabella, her church, and particularly her Second Ward family. She was Aunt Lois to many nieces and nephews, and their children, who were so kind to her and whom she dearly loved.
She is survived by her son, D. Gary (Elizabeth) Christensen; and grandchildren: John Michael (Laura) Christensen, Portland, OR; Dan Jeffrey (Carolynn) Christensen, Daybreak; and Caralyn (Cole) Blanchard. St. Cloud, MN; as well as four wonderful great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Dallin Roberts, South Jordan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers: Clive (Shirley), Alden (Clarice), and Linden (Leva) Roberts; and sisters: Cleone (Kenneth) Hawley, Ruth (Stanley) Parsons, and Rea Roberts.
