Lowell E Hansen

August 6, 1952-May 31, 2025

Our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, husband, brother, cousin and friend, Lowell E Hansen of Yuma, Arizona passed away May 31, 2025 at the age of 72. Lowell was born August 6, 1952 in Salina, Utah to Everett and Mary Ella Hansen. Lowell spent his childhood in Koosharem, Utah. Lowell married Barbara Hansen on January 2, 1976 in Salt Lake City, UT, they later divorced. Lowell was the father of 4 children: Bret Hansen, Rashell Hansen and two stepsons that he raised as his own, Marc Sanchez and Brandon Sanchez. Lowell married Jackie Hansen on April 7, 2023 in Yuma, Arizona, though they had been adventure partners for over a decade.

As a boy growing up in Koosharem, Lowell was full of energy—rambunctious, adventurous, and always on the move with his close friends Kendall Torgerson, Larell Bagley, and Blake Camp. Together, they spent countless hours exploring the outdoors, hunting, and fishing in the surrounding hills and fields. One of Lowell’s greatest joys was spending time with his Grandpa Ellison, his favorite hunting partner. The two shared a deep bond, and his grandfather continued hunting with him well into his 80s. Lowell cherished time with his grandparents, often staying with them so frequently that his father would jokingly ask if he was ever planning to come home.

Even as a young man, Lowell was known for his sense of responsibility and maturity. Neighbors in Koosharem recognized his dependability and entrusted him with tasks that were typically reserved for adults—a testament to his strong work ethic and character from an early age.

As an adult Lowell was an avid outdoorsman who you could find in the mountains hunting, fishing, horseback riding or riding side by sides any free time he had for most of his life. He was a hard worker and retired from Energy West in 2002 and then started his own trucking company. He operated this business until his body would no longer let him. He enjoyed being with Jackie and their friends and was always up for an adventure. He was independent and had a huge heart. He was always willing to help others even when times were tight for himself. He had great pride in his grandchildren and did what he could to support them. Lowell was not active in his church but held a testimony of his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Lowell is survived by his wife, Jackie Hansen, Hinkley Utah, children; Bret (Korie) Hansen, Sidney, Mt; Rashell Hansen, Price, Utah, Marc (Wendy) Sanchez, Grantsville, Utah, Brandon (Cindy) Sanchez, Grace Idaho; siblings, Marlyn (Kirt) Robinson, Burrville, Utah, Roy Hansen, Roosevelt; Gerry (Debbie) Hansen, Venice. He leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father Everett Hansen; mother, Mary Ella Hansen Uptain; sister, Kathleen Hansen; granddaughter, Samantha Sanchez. In Lowell’s unselfish nature he decided to donate his body to science and will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina, and Manti.
