Mable Sue Hansen, 84, passed away on September 29, 2025.
Sue was born on April 5, 1941, in Marysvale, Utah, to LeRoy and Murrell (Sargent) Troutt. She was the youngest of seven children. She loved growing up in Marysvale — especially living up Bullion Canyon — and often shared fond memories of that time. Her daddy and big brothers were her heroes throughout her life, and she frequently expressed how blessed she felt to have the parents and siblings she did.
Sue met the love of her life, Roland Hansen, in December 1959. It was love at first sight, and they were married in April 1960. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on April 21, 1962. Sue and Roland shared 54 wonderful years together until his passing in 2014.
She loved being a mother to their four daughters — Sheila, Wendy, Amber, and Heather — and was a remarkable role model in every aspect of life. The only thing she loved more than caring for her daughters was loving and caring for her darling Roland. One of the greatest joys of her life was becoming a grandmother. Her “grandmother’s love” grew with every grandchild and great-grandchild who entered her life.
Sue worked for 12 years in the school lunch program at South Sevier, where she truly enjoyed being around all the kids. She then spent several years traveling with Roland’s work, which took them to California, Colorado, Idaho, and throughout Utah. Eventually, she took a job in the kitchen at Sevier Valley Hospital, where she worked until retirement — when she was finally able to focus full-time on the role she loved most: being a wife.
She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings over the years, with her favorite being working with the youth.
Sue was a talented artist. Her home — and the homes of her daughters — are adorned with her beautiful oil paintings. She also excelled at sewing and crafting, and was an avid reader, with Louis L’Amour being one of her favorite authors.
A lifelong animal lover, Sue had a tender heart for all creatures, though her cats always held a special place.
Sue is survived by her children: Wendy (Scott) Parsons, Amber (Gregory) Somjen, and Heather (BJ) Peterson; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roland; daughter, Sheila; her parents, LeRoy and Murrell; her brothers, Thad, Kenneth, and David; and her sisters, Margie, Ardith, and Gay.
