Marlin J. Sorensen, 77, passed away August 10, 2020 at his home in Venice. He was born June 16, 1943 in Elsinore to Marlin Dee and Catherine Cowley Sorensen. He married Lorraine Marie Miller, November 20, 1962 in Richfield. The marriage was solemnized October 21, 1964 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. She preceded him in death July 1, 2005. On October 22, 2016, Marlin started a new journey by marrying Renae Carnan Barney in Venice.

As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Marlin served as a home teacher, genealogist and specialist at the Family History Center. He was also involved with the Indian Branch in Richfield and he loved attending the temple .

Marlin was a member of the Rocky Mountain Men and Gold Prospectors of America. He loved helping with the Piute ATV Jamboree. He enjoyed gun smithing, fly fishing, yard selling, reading, Dutch oven cook outs and family gatherings. He raised a beautiful vegetable garden. He loved his family, grandkids and helping people. What a big hugger!

Survived by his wife, Renae; children: Toni Marie Johnson, Elsinore; Francie Mickelson, St. George; Russell Marlin Sorensen, Richfield; Kristine Louise (Bob) Giese, Lake Havasu, AZ; Raquel (Jason) Yepa, Richfield; Bruce James (Sarah) Sorensen, Richfield; Amanda Elizabeth (Thomas) Torgerson, Kingman, AZ; Renae’s children: Richilyn (Jay) Woodin, Venice; Rodger (Tracy) Barney, Roy; Ruth Ann (John) McCrindle, Clearfield; Rochelle (Rodney) Morgan, Richfield; 28 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; siblings: Beverly Kay Meacham, Monroe; R.D. (Franzez) Sorensen, Elsinore; Roger Kent (Bonita) Sorensen, Grantsville; Kathy Marie (Tim) Julander, Cody, WY; Kendal Ray (Pam) Sorensen, Elsinore; Deanna Hazel (Justin) Holm, Elsinore..

Also preceded in death by his parents; children: Jill Sorensen, Jacob Sorensen; son-in-law, Raymond Johnson; granddaughter: Mary Laughing; brother, Curtis Wayne Sorensen; brother-in-law, Douglas Meacham.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, where friends may call from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Elsinore Cemetery.
