Marvin Christensen

We lost our beloved husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa and brother, Marvin Christensen, 95, on October 28, 2020. He passed away peacefully at home in Richfield surrounded by the love of his family after battling multiple cancers. Marvin fought hard to stick around, he didn’t want to leave his wife of 60 years.

Marvin was born May 17, 1925, to LeRoy and Thurza Bryant Dalley Christensen, in Richfield. He married Gladys Madge Christiansen, February 19,1947 in the Manti Temple. Madge passed away August 21, 1960. Marvin married Caroline "Connie" Curtis, June 16, 1961, in the Salt Lake Temple. Marvin often said he was fortunate to have married two of the most exceptional women he knew.

Marvin worked for Cook’s Ice Cream from age 14 until he was drafted into World War II at the age of 18. He served on the European front in the 276th Combat Engineers Corp as a demolition expert. After the war, Marvin worked for Ideal Dairy in Richfield for 33 years, worked with his brother Kenneth at the Church Dairy Farm, and worked 10 years as custodian at Richfield High School.

His many callings including: Teachers Quorum advisor, president of the Stake Seventies Quorum, counselor in the 10th Ward bishopric, ward Sunday School president, ward clerk, 1st counselor in the Care Center Branch, and financial clerk. Marvin’s favorite calling was serving in the nursery. He loved, Loved, LOVED the little children and they loved him calling him "grandpa."

Marvin and Madge served a stake mission from 1952 to 1954. Marvin and Connie served a service mission to the Cove Fort Historical Site from 1996-1998. They also served as Church service missionaries at the LDS Employment Center in Richfield from 1999 -2000.

Marvin and his brother Kenneth served residents of the care center for many years playing music on the guitar and accordion for them. He loved to go camping and fishing with family. Marvin loved children and loved to brag about his children and grandchildren. Not one of them ever doubted how much he loved them. He had the biggest heart, and enough love for everyone!
