Mary Lou Birch, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and educator, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Birch, and was preceded in death by her eternal companion, John Theron DeMille.
Mary Lou is lovingly remembered by her children: Ann Marie (Shawn) Nielson, Suzanne (Michael) Harper, and Gary John (Lori) DeMille, with 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; her stepchildren: Colleen (Gary) Bond, Davis (Heather) Birch, YJ (Dana) Birch-Swindle, and Dorian Barnaby Birch (Timothy Barnaby); 19 step-grandchildren; and 4 step-great-grandchildren.
Born in Moroni, Utah, to Elbert Henry and Mary Morley, she was the fourth of six children. She graduated from North Sanpete High School, earned her associate degree from Snow College, and later received a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Southern Utah University. Mary Lou devoted 27 years to teaching kindergarten and first grade, touching many young lives.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in various leadership roles and was known for her joyful spirit, resilience, and devotion to her faith.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00 am in the Monroe 1st Ward Chapel. Viewings will be held Friday, June 13, from 6:00–7:00 pm at Magleby Mortuary in Richfield and Saturday morning from 9:30–10:30 am at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Monroe City Cemetery.
