Mauna Lou Conder

July 2, 1930 — February 18, 2011

Mauna Lou Barney Conder, 80, our loving mother, sister, granny, great-granny, aunt, neighbor and friend completed her earthly journey on February 18, 2011, returning home to the loving arms of her eternal companion, parents, siblings, great-grand babies, and ancestors who were waiting for her return to them to begin her eternal mission in heaven.

Born July 2, 1930 in "Brooklyn" [Elsinore], to Walter J and Katie Mae Sorensen Barney the youngest of 5 children.

Mauna Lou, known to many as "Maunie" went to school in Monroe, graduating from South Sevier High in 1947. Following graduation, Mom traveled to Bryce Canyon, enjoying a summer working at Ruby's Inn. While there she met and married Donald F Dobson. They later divorced.

Upon Mauna Lou's return to Central Valley, two local farmers decided their divorced kids should make one family and so the journey of a lifetime began. On June 28, 1952 Mauna Lou married her eternal companion, Morgan Conder, in Las Vegas, NV. Later solemnized in the Manti Temple, where she and Morgan were temple workers for a number of years. He preceded her in death December 6, 2008.

It gave Mom so much joy to be able to do her church callings which included Young Women’s Advisor, Relief Society President, as well as the mission she and Dad served in Cove Fort and the family history extraction program. She loved serving the Lord in any way possible.

Mom worked at Selden’s Market, Safeway, Rodeway Inn, BJ’s Restaurant, Kings, Sevier Valley Trade Tech., where she retired from the Cosmetology Department. Mom loved her tech kids. After retiring mom and dad worked for Anderson Floral delivering flowers throughout Southern Utah.

Mauna Lou loved watching old western movies, the Jazz play ball. Attending her boys baseball, basketball, and football games, and dance recitals with her girls. She enjoyed "June conference" she excelled at all both as a spectator and cheerleading section of one but teaching us compassion, integrity, honesty, respect and love for all. It was her biggest joy. Thanks for the life lessons, Mom
