Max Garrett Otten, 92, of Sterling, passed away on July 28, 2021 in Centerfield.  Max was born on June 6, 1929 in Garfield, Utah to August Garrett and Alda Seeley Otten.

Max married Janet Johnson in the Manti Temple on October 14, 1949 and made their home in Sterling, Utah. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many different church callings.  Max worked his whole life farming and raising animals.  He loved the outdoors and spent many hours training dogs and chasing lions, but his true passion was his horses and his chinchilla farm.

Max loved his family and cherished every minute spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Max loved and was devoted to his sweetheart, Janet, and stayed faithfully by her side until her passing in 2020 after 71 years of marriage.

He is survived by his sons: Steven Max (Sue) Otten and Michal (JoAnn) Otten, both of Manti; 16 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great- grandchildren; siblings: Dean, Clair and Shila Otten.  Also preceded in death by his parents and brother Ray Otten.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 2, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the Sterling Ward Chapel where friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Sterling Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
