Nola Dean Holt

May 14, 1932 — July 8, 2022

Nola Holt
Glenwood, Utah

Nola Dean Keeler Tolley Holt, 90, passed away July 8, 2022 at Monroe Canyon Assisted Living after a brief illness. She was born May 14, 1932 in Oakland, California to Darrell and Ruby Gledhill Keeler.

After her parents divorced, the family moved to Nephi where her mother remarried and she and her sister were sealed to the man she considered to be her real dad, George Earl Tolley.

Nola loved working on the farm with her new dad, especially helping with the prize-winning draft horses, Jack and Jerry, and herding the cows on horseback. Her love of horses never left her, and in 1977 she bought her beloved mare, Rusty.  They spent many happy hours riding the hills around Glenwood.

On September 4, 1948, she married the love of her life, James “Jim” Derrell Holt, in Richfield, Utah. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on October 1, 1956.  They had 66 happy years together before he passed away on February 5, 2015. They made their home in Glenwood.

Family was the joy of her life and she deeply loved all three of her children and all of her extended family.

Nola and Jim enjoyed many hobbies together, including rock hounding, photography and travel. They loved the mountains and spent time hunting, fishing camping and riding ATV’s.

She was a talented seamstress, quilter and cook.  She also served in many positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Nola had a loving, generous heart and loved to help anyone in need. She loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor.

She is survived by her children: Maria Chamberlain, Wayne (Janet) Holt, and Sandy (Jim) Roberts; 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

She is also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dolores Ruby Hansen; great-great-grandson, Brink Madsen.

During her two years at Monroe Canyon Assisted Living, all she wanted was to go home and be reunited with Jim. Now her wish has been granted.

Please join the family for graveside services to be held Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Glenwood Cemetery. There will be no public viewing. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
