Listen to Obituary

Pauline Sevy Prince, 91, passed away peacefully in Hatch, Utah, on December 16, 2025. She was born on March 24, 1934, in Panguitch, Utah, to Thomas Frank and Alice Church Sevy. The youngest of six children, Pauline cherished her adventures with her siblings, Violet, Norma, Tom, Art, and Janice, despite the large age gaps between her and her older siblings. Pauline embraced her role as the baby of the family with joy.

Pauline attended schools in Panguitch, eventually graduating from Panguitch High School. She completed an Associate’s Degree at Southern Utah University and has many fond memories of her experiences there.

Pauline met Joseph Merle Prince in Panguitch at a young age, going to school together. Eventually, they were married on August 12, 1955, in Baumholder, Germany, while Merle was serving in the U.S. Army. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Bern Switzerland Temple. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2007.

Family was everything to Pauline, and she cherished any time spent with them. She loved to be the life of the party, teaching her family many games and always entertaining them with her fun personality. Pauline had a beautiful talent for quilting, with every grandchild and great-grandchild being the recipient of her quilts, many times receiving replacement quilts due to wearing out the original gift.

Pauline loved her life in Panguitch, retiring there after many years living in various places such as Grand Junction, Colorado; Steamboat Springs, Colorado; and Chadron, Nebraska. Her love for Panguitch kept her involved in many activities, such as the 24th of July celebrations, volunteering at the Thrift store, and spending time with her many treasured friends.

A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Pauline served diligently in many church callings throughout her life. She especially treasured her time as an ordinance worker in the St. George Temple and as a missionary alongside her husband in Oregon.

Pauline is survived by her children: Paula (Carl) Curtis, Merlene Lanier, Jolene (Dave) Irving, Frank (Denise) Prince, and Ryan (Tara Nielsen) Prince; 25 grandchildren; and 55 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Frank and Alice Church Sevy; siblings Violet, Norma, Tom, Art, and Janice; son-in-law Tim Lanier; grandson Joseph Hunter Prince; granddaughter Alexis Prince; great-granddaughter Rose Meldrum; and great-grandson Clayton Meldrum.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 12:00 noon at the Panguitch 3rd Ward Chapel. A viewing will precede the service from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the church.
