Phpillip McNeil Palmer

August 6, 1942 — July 27, 2011

Our father, grandfather, brother and friend, Phillip McNeil Palmer, passed away peacefully July 27, 2011 with his children by his side. Born to Orrin McNeil and Rhoda Palmer August 6, 1942 in Richfield. He graduated from Richfield High School and Utah Valley Technical College in Provo in Automotive Repair. Married Karen Mason in 1968 and their marriage later solemnized in the Manti Temple. They divorced in 2009.

He was an innovative and hard working businessman. After a successful run in the service station business, the commodity business and the trucking industry he researched, developed and patented technology that would be the foundation of the success of Diamond K Gypsum, Inc. now known throughout the nation and several other countries.

Phil loved working, traveling, hunting, boating and his family. He was a man of great faith in the Lord and served as a high councilman, scout leader, and nine years as councilor in the bishopric of the LDS Church. He made a great impact on the lives of many young men he worked with, and earned several scout awards while serving in these callings. He had an unwavering testimony of the gospel and loved everyone he served.

His devotion and strength will be missed everyday by his surviving family members and close friends. Daughter, Kristi (Kris) Allred; grandchildren: Mason, Layton, and Jessi Allred all Richfield; brother, Stanton Palmer, Boise, ID. Preceded in death by his parents and brother Lindsey Palmer.

The family wishes to express their love and gratitude to the many kind friends and neighbors of Phil and Karen who visited and loved Phillip over the last 12 years during his battle with a disabling illness. Special thanks to Ron Parsons for his wonderful care and friendship. Also, thanks to the wonderful staff and nurses of Monroe Canyon Assisted Living as well as the IHC Hospice care nurses and volunteers. Phillip truly loved each one of you.
