Ray Masters

Ray Masters, 95, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2011 in Cedar City. She was born October 19, 1915 in Englewood, Colorado, to Charles Porter and Bessie Alberta Jones Hale.

Ray was raised and educated in Manila, UT and Las Vegas, NV where she graduated from high school. She married Joseph Fuller Reid on May 22, 1939 in Panaca, NV. He passed away in 1958. She later married her childhood sweetheart William Rector "Rex" Masters on January 21, 1965 in Las Vegas, NV. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple, June 10, 1966. They had 41 wonderful years together.

She enjoyed spending time in her garden, sewing, handicrafts, canning, reading and especially spending time with her family. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Ray is survived by her son, Vernon (Janis) Hale Reid, Cedar City; grandchildren: Kimberly Ray Bowles, Jessica Marie Hughes, Joseph Emeron Reid and 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her niece, Carol Ray Ewell and nephew, Larry D Hale. She is preceded in death by her; parents, spouses, and brothers; Charlie Hale, Howard Hale and Robert Hale.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 12:00 Noon in the Escalante 1 st Ward Chapel with a viewing prior to services from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Interment will take place at the Manila Cemetery in Manila, on Friday, February 25, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
