Raymond Merlin Finch, age 87, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Raymond was born on October 6, 1937, in Walker Mine, California. He graduated from Lincoln High School, where he would soon meet the love of his life, Katherine Penrod Finch. The two shared 65 wonderful years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to one another.
Raymond was known for his strong work ethic and deep love of the outdoors. He began his career as a skilled bricklayer before moving on to Work at Geneva Steel in Orem, Utah, where he spent 33 years as a foreman until his retirement. Following retirement, Raymond and Katherine embarked on their next great adventure-purchasing land in Kingston, Utah. There, they spent the next 37 years creating what he proudly called their "little piece of heaven," a cherished gathering place for their growing family.
An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Raymond found peace in the mountains and joy in the thrill of the hunt. He treasured every opportunity to be outside and delighted in sharing that passion with his wife, children, and grandchildren. His stories, skills, and love for nature will live on through the many family members who followed in his footsteps.
Raymond was a true jokester at heart, known for his quick wit, playful teasing, and contagious smile. He had a remarkable ability to make people laugh and brought joy and light to every room he entered. Whether it was a perfectly timed joke or a mischievous grin, he had a gift for lifting spirits and creating unforgettable memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merlin and Venice Finch, his brother Doug (Linda) Finch, and his beloved son Raymond Kay (R.K.) Finch and his beautiful beloved daughter, Tawnya Finch Allen.
Raymond is survived by his devoted wife, Katherine Finch, his son-in-law Glen Allen (Larisa Walker), and his grandchildren: Ashley (Sandy) White, Dallas (Brittney) Jeffs, Gentry (Ryan) Holbrook, and Clarence.
Everill, Gaven Allen (Torrie Hurst), and Shae Allen, along with four great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy of strength, humor, and love for the great outdoors.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the Church building located at 195 W 200 S St, Circleville, UT 84723. A viewing for close friends and family will take place from 10:30 to 11:30 AM, followed by funeral services at 12:00 PM. Burial will be in the Kingston Town Cemetery, 600 S. Cemetery Road, Kingston, Utah
