Raymond Dick Twitchell

June 20, 1958 — June 19, 2011

Our husband, father, grandfather, brother and son returned to his Father in Heaven on Sunday, June 19, 2011, at the age of 52, after a valiant battle with cancer. Dick was born June 20, 1958, in Richfield, Utah, to Clarence Edwin and Mona Rae McInelly Twitchell.

He married Peggy Lyn Jensen, May 7, 1982, in Monroe. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on February 9, 1991, where their family was sealed together forever. They made their home in Monroe with lots of love and laughter and everyone felt welcome.

Dick was raised in Antimony and graduated from Piute High School in 1976. He attended Sevier Technology School in Richfield where he completed a degree in Building Trades. He fought fires with the BLM for 13 years before going back to school in Cedar City at SUSC to earn a bachelor’s degree in teaching History and P.E. He worked for Sevier School District with the maintenance crew for 19 years.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dick was a High Priest and served in a variety of organizations. He was a home teacher, Scout Master and served in the Sunday School Presidency.

Dick loved sports and served the community by coaching Little League baseball, middle school football and basketball. He loved to watch and cheer on the high school teams as well.

He had a passion for being in the beautiful mountains. He loved to hunt, fish, ride his four-wheeler and loved being with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy, Monroe; children, Jenny (Max) Sorensen, Cedar City; Kimberly (Bryan) Brown, Central Valley; Brittney Twitchell, Provo; Bryce Twitchell, Cedar City; and Jayson Twitchell, Monroe; grandchildren, Bret, Bryan and Tyler; mother, Mona Rae Twitchell, Antimony; siblings, Robert (Jane) Twitchell, Lloyd (Donna) Twitchell, Lawrence (Rachel) Twitchell, all Cedar City; Debra (Neil) Aronoff and Sharen (Chris) Hanks, both of West Valley City; Jerry (Shelly) Twitchell, Elsinore; and Leon Twitchell, Antimony; mother-in-law, Elva Jensen, Monroe; brothers and sisters-in-law, Debbie (Jim) Walker and Paul (Estella) Jensen, both of Monroe; Daniel (Jenni) Jensen, Axtell; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Twitchell and father-in-law, Norris Jensen.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at 12 Noon in the Monroe 4 th Ward LDS Chapel, 49 East 200 North, Monroe. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the ward chapel in Monroe on Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.

The family would like to thank Intermountain Home Healthcare and Hospice for their loving care of Dick. Also a thanks to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, Valley View Medical Center and Infusion, Dixie Regional Medical Center and to everyone in the surrounding communities for your love and support during this last year.
