Richard Alton Green, 83, of Manti, Utah, returned to his Heavenly Father on November 15, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Born June 25, 1942, in Salt Lake City to Keith Alton Green and Frances Cecelia Carlson, Richard was raised in a close-knit, faithful family. On April 28, 1967, he married Diane Christensen in Provo, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple. Together, they built a Christ-centered home filled with love, service, music, and meaningful family traditions.
Richard graduated from BYU in Economics and Business Management and spent his career in the computer industry, including leadership in management, sales, and training. He was especially beloved as a mentor and employer at his company, Sudico, where he was known as a supportive and caring leader.
He found joy in the outdoors—especially fishing with his father, siblings, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The mountains, rivers, lakes, and ocean were sacred places to him. Richard also filled his family’s life with music and spent countless hours on road trips listening to Neil Diamond, The Beach Boys, the Bee Gees, and any good music his children introduced to him—melodies that became part of the family’s happiest memories.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Richard served faithfully as a missionary in the North Scotland Mission, a stake missionary, a seminary teacher, and in numerous leadership roles. He loved teaching in Primary, Sunday School, Young Men, and nursery, and gave many hours to scouting, youth camps, welfare service, and church athletics. Richard had a deep passion for family history, feeling a sacred responsibility to strengthen both his living family and the ancestors he researched and honored. He also built a treasured personal library of historical church books, many passed down through generations.
Richard is survived by his eternal companion, Diane, and their children: Gary (Monae), David (Emma), Tanya (Rob), Heather (Pete), Kristen (Jordan), William (Summer), and Mindy; 28 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Sally (Johnny), Sheldon (Susan), Sandra (the late, Frank), Shirley (the late, Ted), and Linnea (Wes); brothers-in-law Rex (Pat) and Brian; and sister(cousin) in-law Marinel (Dennis) Riley. He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws Rex and Sarah Christensen; grandson Justin Green; and brothers-in-law Frank Hetzel and Ted MacArthur.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Manti LDS Stake Center, 555 East Union. A family visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services will follow at the Manti City Cemetery.
