Richard David Lanier

June 9, 1931 — February 1, 2012

Richard David Lanier, 80, of Manti, passed away on February 1, 2012 of sudden heart failure. Richard was born June 9, 1931 to Robert Henry and Henrietta Crystal Brown Lanier in Salt Lake City, Ut.

Richard was raised and educated in Coalville. He proudly served his country in the United State Air Force. Richard married Nancy Kay Peck and together had seven children, they later divorced. Among the joys in Richard’s life was being known as "Coach" for his involvement in youth sports. He loved baseball and basketball. Richard was an inventor, loved walking and was proud of being a secretary in the LDS Church Administration, and his involvement in genealogy. Richard was moved by his love of classical music.

Richard is survived by his children: Richard Steven Lanier, SLC; Sandra Kay (Kent) Winegar, Huntsville; Jan Christine Haliburton, Eden; Debi Ann (David) Lanier, Magna; Daniel Peck Lanier, SLC; Marc Peck Lanier-Chadwick, Magna; Matthew Peck (Gail) Lanier-Chadwick, West Valley. He is also survived his siblings: Donald Lanier, Betty Joy Lanier, Jerry Kenneth Lanier and Mary Lydia; 27 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; Raymond, Ruth, William and Eugene "Bud".

"Until We Meet Again" We love you Dad. Thanks for teaching us to love unconditionally and to be kind to everyone, everywhere, always. The family would like to express a special thanks to Richards loving Manti family.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Manti LDS Stake Center, 555 East Union. Friends may call Sunday, February 5, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at the stake center and also on Monday from 11:30-12:30. Interment will be in the Manti City Cemetery with military honors. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
