Robert D. "Robby" Haws

January 20, 1988 — June 9, 2011

Robert D. "Robby" Haws, 23, passed away June 9, 2011 in Escalante. He was born January 20, 1988 in Phoenix, AZ to Ricky Lee Haws and Randie Beatty Haws.

Robby excelled in many areas, especially anything to do with horses. He had a natural gift and was the one who would notice any horse that was sick or having problems in the neighborhood.

He lived on two acres and had horses in his backyard due to his Dad’s profession of working with race horses. He rode calves and steers since the age of 6. In addition to rodeo, he played football, basketball and baseball. He was also a great cook.

Robby worked in either food service, construction or horse racing and everyone he worked for liked him and said what a good worker he was.

He is survived by his mother, Randie Beatty Haws, Hurricane; his father, Ricky Lee Haws, Escalante; brothers, Ricky Klyn Haws, Scottsdale, AZ; Kory Dell Haws, serving in the US Army in Iraq; grandmother, Marlene Mecham Haws, Escalante.

Preceded in death by grandparents, Dell and Quinta Beatty and Klyn Haws.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 11:00 am in the Escalante LDS Stake Center, 80 South Center Street, where friends may call from 9:00 – 10:00 am. Interment will take place in the Toquerville City Cemetery at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.

Robby was born, raised and attended schools in the Valley of the Sun – the Phoenix suburbs. He completed high school while in the Job Corps and earned certification as a carpenters at Job Corps, Trapper Creek, MT.
