Sherry Mae Oldroyd Richards, age 77, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, in Murray, Utah. Born on July 19, 1948, in Salina, Utah, Sherry lived a life marked by resilience and love for her family.
Sherry spent her early childhood in Aurora, Utah, attending school there until the 5th grade before moving to Richfield. She graduated from Richfield High School in 1966, where she was actively involved in student life. Her vibrant spirit shone through as she served as the FFA Sweetheart and was part of the homecoming court.
On July 23, 1966, Sherry married her high school sweetheart, Charles “Chuck” Vance Jensen. Together they embarked on a journey that took them across the country during Chuck’s service in the U.S. Navy. They built a life together and raised four daughters. Though their paths later diverged, the years they shared were filled with adventure and family memories.
Sherry’s greatest joy came from being surrounded by those she loved. She was a loving mother to Jody (Fred) Starr, Sheila Jensen, Katrina Jensen, and Amanda Jensen Stewart. Her memory will continue through her daughters and four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved mother, Audra Oldroyd, and sister Shauna Dastrup.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Harve Oldroyd, and daughter Amanda Jensen Stewart.
Sherry loved nature and found peace in the mountains of Utah. She especially cherished time spent fishing at Fish Lake and horseback riding, a hobby she shared with some of her daughters. She found joy and creativity through crocheting and cooking—skills she used to bring comfort and joy to others. Whether it was a birthday, holiday, or a small personal victory, Sherry was sure to throw a celebration for her family. She was fashionable and fun. She also loved playing games with her family—moments filled with laughter that will be remembered fondly by all who shared them with her.
Those who knew Sherry will remember her for her kindness and love for those closest to her. While our shared journey was often challenging, her absence leaves an undeniable sense of loss. We are grateful that she has found peace and takes comfort in knowing that she and Amanda will be watching over us as we navigate this new chapter in our lives.
