Shirley Ann Harriet Mickelson Long, 85, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025. Born on December 15, 1939, in Gunnison, Utah, Shirley was a woman whose kindness, warmth, and love touched all who knew her.
She was the daughter of Clarence and Jeanie Mickelson, who instilled in her the values of resilience, hard work, and deep devotion to family. Shirley was one of six siblings: Don (deceased), Ray (deceased), Carol, Robert (deceased), and Joan.
She shared 51 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Charles Harry Long—a union marked by mutual respect, enduring love, and unwavering partnership.
Shirley is survived by her children: Richard (M’Lisa) Long, David Long, Lisa (Vinko) Relja, and Michael (Karen) Long. She was a proud grandmother to 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild—each a testament to the love and care she gave so freely.
A funeral service celebrating Shirley’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 10th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meeting house, located at 230 Main Street, Centerfield, Utah. A viewing will take place one hour prior to the service. She will then be laid to rest at the Gunnison cemetery.
Shirley will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
