Steven Olsen
Ephraim, Utah

Steven Clark Olsen of Ephraim, Utah, passed away at his home in Salina, Utah, on July 1, 2025, from congestive heart failure. He was 80 years old.

Steve was born August 13, 1944, in Salina, Utah, to Spencer and Lucile Olsen. He grew up in Ephraim among a close-knit community of family and friends, and he often remarked that he had been raised in the best place and at the best time. Even during the years he lived elsewhere, Ephraim remained his true home.

After graduating from Manti High School, Steve attended Snow College and later the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. During that time, he met Joyce Jensen of Gunnison, and they were married in the Manti Utah Temple on August 24, 1968. As newlyweds, they made their home in Denver, where Joyce worked for Western Airlines and Steve was the manager for Edison Brothers Shoes. A decade later they returned to Ephraim to carry on the family legacy at the Bright Spot drive-in, serving the Sanpete community side by side for thirty years. In their retirement they sold headstones - a role perfect for them.

Steve’s life was marked by service. He volunteered on the Ephraim Fire Department, and as a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he held many callings over the years. He delighted in the simple pleasures of cars, music, good food—and most of all, time spent with family at “The Cabin,” his cherished retreat in Acord Lakes.

He is survived by his loving and loyal companion, Joyce; their three children—Shelly and Darin Nielson of Gilbert, Arizona (Noah, 15, and Ethan, 13), Kelsey Olsen of Syracuse, Utah, and Matthew and Tatum Olsen of Holladay, Utah (Sloane, 13; Finn, 10; Seve, 3; and Blaire, 1); his sister Sibyl Ireland of St. George, Utah; his brother John Olsen of La Quinta, California and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Spencer and Lucile Olsen, and his brothers Larry and Scott.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ephraim Stake Center, 400 E. Center Street, Ephraim, Utah. A viewing will precede the service from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Ephraim City Cemetery. All who knew Steve are invited to attend and celebrate a life defined by warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family and community.
