This man,
What a fighter. Military life was a good life, but it was also a hard life.
This man was and still is such an example to those around him. Not only for what he believed in, but what he stood for: To being a soldier at home, away from home, to having boots on the ground. But not only was he a soldier, a hero, and a man that loved his country.
He was my spouse, and my friend of 30 years.
He was the father to our three amazing boys, Jayson Barkdull Ridgeway, Tracer Ridgeway, and Kenton Ridgeway. He taught them how to stand and be strong, to care for each other, he taught them to always have respect for women. He taught them how to have a great time, to laugh and really enjoy life, and to love.
Steve was an amazing example to his grandkids, Avery, Harlee, Nova, Sawyer, Allee, Hudson. And even our sweet ones that are our angel ones.
He was kind, and sure tried his hardest to show me, the kids, grandkids friends, family the most important things in life, which was, that the SIMPLE THINGS MATTERED, time, love, laughter, the love of music, to even having the kids, and grandkids teach him things like, letting them help him on things he couldn't do. They taught him not only to let him help them but also to be helped by them. He was a light in so many people's lives, including his family, his friends, and neighbors.
The military family he gained with the Army 222nd and the Air National Guard 151st refueling wing, the PGR Utah Help on the Homefront. The American Legion in Monroe, Utah, and many more.
The fun side of Steve will definitely be missed, from the non-stop teasing to laughing to telling his fun jokes. Towel wars with the boys and the kids in the neighborhood. To him, sitting and turning up the music to just really enjoy it.
He will be missed for all the Utes football games he watched with us and his boys. Even if it meant calling his boys in the middle of the game, to interrupt them watching it just to ask about a play or something he knew about the game already. It was to hear his son’s voice on the other end of the line to see if it was the same excitement he was feeling or a bad call in the game.
To turning on a song And coming to try and dance with me in the kitchen, the fun times will always be there for us as we continue to relive the jokes that were said, to the football game stories, to old and new traditions we have had or that were in the works that we were already planning for holidays this year for something new and fun, for our kids, grandkids, and our family and friends.
This man, my spouse, a father, a papa, a friend, a neighbor, and soldier, a hero, a family member, and so much more will truly be missed by me; our boys, Jayson, Tracer, Kenton; Our daughters, Brinlie, Jess, and Kaycee; our grandkids Cookie, Squirrel, Brownie, Frog, Chipmunk, and Taw; Our family, friends, and so much more. Thanks for being our light to all of us.
Love T.
