Susan Carol Staples Jensen passed away peacefully in her home on August 6, 2025, at the age of 92, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, warmth, and unconditional love that touched the lives of everyone who knew her. To know Carol was to feel like you were her favorite — a gift she gave so generously to all.
Born on December 16, 1932, to Delilah Washburn and Elva Staples, Carol was the 9th of 13 children. She grew up around the beet fields in Inverury, UT— now known as Central Valley. She was raised on a farm with a large family and quickly learned the importance of hard work. She loved sharing stories of her youth and kept many journals of the joys and hardships throughout her life. She was a lovely writer with beautiful penmanship.
She married June B. Jensen on July 2, 1953, in Las Vegas, NV, and they were later sealed on December 5, 1970, in the Manti Temple.
They had five children, and she took great pride and joy in raising them. She cultivated a life filled with love, creativity, and family. Her home was a gathering place, and her kitchen was the heart of it all. Carol’s home-cooked meals were legendary, and the love she poured into her cooking brought her family and friends together time and again.
Beyond the kitchen, Carol was a gifted artist. She had a unique talent for painting the breathtaking landscapes of Utah, and her home was filled with vibrant canvases that captured the beauty of the world she loved. Her paintings will forever serve as a bright reminder of her creative spirit.
Carol had a remarkable talent for creating beauty in the everyday. She was a gifted seamstress, gardener, artist, musician, and baker, and she poured love into everything she made. Her hands were rarely still— whether she was stitching beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren, tending to her abundant garden, playing the piano, or filling her home with the delicious scents of her home-cooked meals and baked treats. Every creation was an expression of her heart— a golden reminder of how deeply she loved those around her.
She found joy in simple pleasures: the warmth of the sun on her face, the color of flowers in bloom, lovely music, serving others, and the laughter of family gathered around her table. But her greatest joy was being with her loved ones. Her heart was never happier than when it was full of family. She always said, “Family is life’s greatest blessing.”
Carol’s presence was a blessing, and her memory will continue to comfort and inspire all who were lucky enough to be loved by her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her bright spirit and selfless love.
Carol was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She found joy in serving in various callings, including Primary, Relief Society, and as a loving visiting teacher.
Carol is survived by her five children: Doug Jensen Richfield; Lisa Penney Richfield; Marcia (David) Eyre Minersville; Brett (Christy) Jensen St. George; and Dirk (Pollyanna) Jensen Richfield; 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; Brother, Ronnie Lane Staples; Brothers in-law, Kenneth Mason, Fred Swain, Morris Jensen, Stirling Hansen, and Sister in-law, Melody Staples.
