Theodore “Ted” Deger Hodapp, 93 of Manti, Utah, passed away February 14, 2026, in Manti, Utah, surrounded by his loving family. Born November 25, 1932, to Albert Joseph Hodapp and Angela Elizabeth Deger in Dayton, Ohio.
Ted graduated from Chaminade High School in 1950. After graduation, he worked with his father’s construction company, Hodapp and Sons, in Dayton, Ohio. Later, he married Judy Slight, and they had a little girl named Diane. They moved to California in 1957. The marriage ended in divorce, and Judy returned to Dayton, Ohio. Ted continued to go to a tech school while working to provide. In 1959, he met Joan Humphries at a dance in California. Ted realized his love for Joan Humphries, and they married on January 1, 1960, and celebrated with family and friends in Woodville, Idaho. She was impressive! New employment began the very next day. They celebrated sixty-six years together, enjoying travel every summer to visit family, piloting his own plane, and serving in many capacities for their faith, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ted is survived by his devoted wife Joan, children: Greg (Suzi) Hodapp, California; Camber (Melanie) Hodapp, Washington; Amy (Dan) Olson, Utah; Lora (Larry) Van Den Heuvel, California; 10 grandchildren: Christina (Justin) Heathman, North Carolina; Jacob (Christina) Van Den Heuvel, California; Shawndell, California; Jennifer (Brook) Johnston, Texas; Joshua (Kaelee) Van Den Heuvel, North Carolina; Spencer (Rebekah) Hodapp, Maryland; Savannah Hodapp, Utah; N.Ray Olson, Utah; Bodil Olson, Utah; Déger Olson, Utah; 10 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Angela Hodapp; siblings: Mary “Betty” Hodapp; “Bert” Hodapp, Jr.; Nancy (Frank) McBride.
Graveside services and Interment will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the
Manti City Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Manti American Legion Post #31.
A Visitation will be held prior to services at Magleby Mortuary in Manti from 9:00-10:30 a.m.
Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina, and Manti.
