Arlene Malchus

Richfield/Milford

Arlene Ogden Malchus, 82, passed away March 15, 2020 in Mapleton, Utah. Always full of life and cheerful until she succumbed to the complications of Parkinson’s. Arlene was born January 2, 1938 in Richfield, Utah to Joseph Lerue and Elsie Ward Ogden. She graduated from Richfield High School and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah. She married Gary Morton Malchus in 1959 and were married for 52 years until his passing in 2011.

Many may remember Arlene as the woman who read your electric meter every month for the power company. Later she worked as the warehouse manager at the Blundell Geothermal plant. Both were jobs she loved doing and she enjoyed her work and was always optimistic and lively with her co-workers and everyone around her.

Arlene was happy and compassionate, always there to comfort and help those in need. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and joyfully led the music in her ward in Milford for many years. She had a fun sense of humor and a deep love for her family and friends and always seemed to light up the room with her smile and personality. In the recent few years she lived at the Spring Gardens Assisted Living Center in Mapleton Utah where she blossomed and loved everyone.

She is survived by her son, Darin Gary (Lynae) Malchus; grandchildren: Kylie, Kasey and Jessica; sisters: Carol Nuffer and Francis Chiea. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Gary; and daughter Stephanie Mori Malchus.
