Austin Hayward
Glenwood, Utah

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Austin Hayward, passed away on December 2, 2021 in Mesquite, Nevada. He was 97 years old. Austin was born in Portsmouth, Ohio to W. E. and Verna Maynard Hayward. In 1941, he married Lois Herndon in South Gate, California. They had two children, Carol and Audrey. They later divorced.
Austin proudly served his country in World War II as an Aviation Torpedoman's Mate, 2/C in the US Navy. While enlisted, he excelled in both the drafting and engineering fields.

Austin served as the vice president of International Leisure Activities, Inc. (ILA) alongside his companion of many years, Veda Arlene Trujillo. His passion for engineering and drafting were apparent in the design and construction of the unique machinery used to manufacture candy molds. Many of his designs still hold patents as of today. ILA sold candy making supplies world wide with Austin at the helm of the company. He retired from ILA in 1990 and moved to Utah.

In 2010, Austin married his sweetheart, Linda Anton, in Richfield.  Oh the adventures they had traveling abroad and touring the Western states! Their life was filled with love and laughter.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters: Carol (John) Cox-Dooley and Audrey Hayward; his grandchildren: Jodi Shinney, Melissa (Todd) Lemione, Annamarie (Frank) Tirvino, Jennifer (Kasey) Seeberg, Steve Shinney, Chris Marland and Kate (Chris) Heiland; 8 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson who proudly bears Austin's name.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
