Beverly Beck

Centerfield, Utah

Beverly Jane Leavitt Beck, 88, of Centerfield, passed away peacefully at her home on September 19, 2018. She was born April 9, 1930 in Richfield to Lloyd Leland and Fawn Mahala Sylvester Leavitt. Beverly grew up in Sevier County in the communities of Joseph and Annabella. Her mother passed away when she was only two, leaving her father with five children to take care of during the depression.

After Beverly graduated from high school, she went on to earn her Associates of Art Degree from Snow College. This is where she met her future husband, Donald Arlin Beck.

After graduating from Snow, Beverly was eager to get out and see the world. She found her way to Tulsa, Oklahoma with the idea of being a flight attendant, however when the job turned out to be only making flight reservations she chose to leave. She then found her dream job in Kansas City, Missouri as an artist for Hallmark Cards. She was one of many who worked to produce greeting cards. She found the work fun and challenging...however, as time went on she became homesick and decided to come back to Utah. She worked at Hill Field dismantling WWII airplanes.

On November 28, 1953 she married her college sweetheart in Annabella. After a brief residence in Logan, the couple moved to Donald’s family farm outside Centerfield. Here they raised their five children. He preceded her in death.

Beverly was a kind, loving person. She was always concerned about everyone, she was always trying to find a home for all the vegetables that she grew. If you sat down at her house you would end up with a plate of food in your hands. She dabbled with art for personal enjoyment. She loved her family very much.

Beverly is survived by her children: Jeff Beck, Centerfield; Sherrie (Lennie) Gammon, Price; Julie (Ronald) Anderson, Centerfield; Chris (Keiko) Beck, Renton, WA; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother, James (Cheryl) Leavitt, Annabella. She is preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Jennie Barney; son, Hal James Beck; siblings: Marga Bell, Vivian Aleith, Harold Lloyd and Dezra Jane.
