Cheryl Marie Harmer

January 8, 1947 — May 7, 2021

Cheryl Harmer
Glenwood, Utah

Cheryl Marie Barth Harmer, loving wife, mother, grandmother great-grandmother, sister, and friend, returned to her heavenly home Friday, May 7, 2021. She left us exactly how she would have wanted to go, in the arms of her husband. Cheryl was born January 8, 1947. She was the youngest daughter of George Allyn and Vodis LaMay Wallwork Barth. Cheryl spent an idyllic childhood in North Ogden; however spent the majority of her adult life in her beloved Glenwood.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cheryl served in several callings over the years including Relief Society president, compassionate service leader, and church librarian. She also served a service mission together with Paul and as president of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.

Cheryl’s greatest and most challenging career in life was that of full time mother. Once her youngest child was older, she took a part-time position at the Glenwood post office. She loved visiting with most of the townspeople every Friday and Saturday as they came to check their mail. We imagine many would come in simply to visit with her and get the latest town gossip. Later she enjoyed time at her jobs at the LDS Distribution Center and the Curtis Residential Center.

Cheryl had a smile for everyone she encountered and took every opportunity to have a chat; whether it was with her best friend or random stranger. She loved spending time with her family and friends: camping, cooking, laughing, and playing cards. She loved making and displaying quilts. She loved traveling: seeing new places, meeting new people, and trying new foods.

She is survived by her dear husband of 53 years, Paul Arnold Harmer, of Glenwood; children: Paul Derk (Karen Lee) Harmer, Sandy; Jenneka (Tony) Manwill, Saratoga Springs; Jason (Kelly) Harmer, West Jordan; Eric (Ryan) Harmer, Rotterdam, The Netherlands; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Janet (Reese) Barker, North Ogden. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, JoAnne and Lynn.

The family would like to thank all those who supported Mom during the last few months. The doctors, nurses, and staff at LDS Hospital, Intermountain Medical Center, and the Heritage Center have been true angels. We would also like to thank Saratoga Springs first responders.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 14, 2021, 11:00 a.m. in the Glenwood Ward Chapel, 225 E. Center Street, Glenwood, UT where friends may call from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. The family requires face masks for all in attendance regardless of vaccination status . Burial will be in the Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden on Saturday at 12:00 Noon.
