Don Preston McConkie, 44, passed away December 11, 2012. He was born October 13, 1968 in Vernal, UT to Charles Collier and Geraldine Caldwell McConkie.

Preston grew up in Central Valley, UT where he attended local schools. He joined the US Army in 1987 through 1991, stationed in Korea, participated in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He served in the England Preston Mission. Taught LDS Seminary in Arizona, newspaper reporter and editor in Utah and Arizona. He was a long-haul truck driver for many years.

Preston always stood up for correct principals. He was a scriptorian, loved music, upheld the constitution, big on self-sufficiency, and was courageous and undaunted.

Survived by children: Carver, Janet Lee and Rebecca; mother, Geraldine "Deena" (Ron) Hawley; siblings: Charlotte (Keith) Williams, James Anthon (Sally) Burningham, Shara Dean (James) Mitchell, Eli Andrew (Katie) Burningham and Gina Petrice (Caleb) Rose. Preceded in death by father.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Annabella Ward Chapel, where friends may call from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Annabella Cemetery with military rites by the V.
