Elma Gean Jacobson Peterson, 86, of Gunnison, passed away on October 29, 2015 in Provo, UT. Elma was born on August 14, 1929 in Mayfield, UT to Loyal Peter Erastus and Lydia Fair Thompson Jacobson.

Elma grew up in Mayfield and graduated from Manti High School. She then moved to Gunnison where she worked at the Gunnison Valley Hospital as a nurse along side Dr. Reese. With the help of her friends, she was introduced to Melroy Junior Peterson shortly after he returned from the Navy. They were married in the Manti LDS Temple on January 10, 1949. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings. She was a loyal member of the American Legion Auxillary Post #104. Elma and Junior enjoyed spending time in the mountains cutting rug rags to create the rugs they wove that are enjoyed by many. She lovingly cared for Junior in the years before his death. She treasured the time spent with her family.

Elma is survived by her children: Keith (Ardella) Peterson; Dale (Nedra) Peterson, both of Gunnison; Rebecca (Steven) Kiesel, of Las Vegas, NV; Patricia Sehorn, of Gunnison; and JoAnn (Ron) Rich, of Ogden. 19 Grandchildren, 39 Great-grandchildren with 1 on the way.
