Evan Wilford Hansen, 96, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2019 in Richfield. He was born April 11, 1923 in Monroe, a son of John Albert and Caroline Henrietta Miller Hansen. He graduated from South Sevier High School.

Evan was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving a mission to Hawaii from 1948 to 1950. He held many positions in the Church including working as an ordinance worker in the Manti Temple for over 13 years.

Evan served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as flight engineer on a B-32 bomber. His military service was from 1943 to 1946.

His education was a follows: 1950 - 1953 BYU: Chemistry major and Math/Agronomy minors. 1954-1956 University of Nebraska; M.S. Agronomy/Entomology (Soil Microbiology) 1958 - 1960 Iowa State University; M.S. Zoology (Nematology). In 1960 - 1974 he was employed in New York/New Jersey by American Cyanamid Co., (International Division). While working for this company he traveled frequently to Mexico, Central and South America, Australia, Europe and several Asian countries. Returning to Utah in 1974, he was employed as a director of tourism promotion (Panaramaland) for over a dozen years.

Evan married Patrica Anne Cole from Alberta, Canada in 1954 in the Manti Temple. She preceded him in death in 1996. He married Glenna Julander Forbush in 1999. They were friends from childhood, growing up on the farms in the Brooklyn area northwest of Monroe.

He is survived by his wife, Glenna and many kind and loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: John Ellis Hansen, Albert Roland (Elva) Hansen, Melvin Miller (Nona) Hansen, Joseph Ward Hansen; sisters: Agnes (Bill) Holgate, Hanna (Dee) Gay, Leah (Lyle) Stevens, Carol Genevie (Kay) Baker, Louise Elnora (Grant) Southworth.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Monroe 1st Ward Chapel, where friends may call from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery with military honors by the Sevier Valley American Legion Post #37 and the Utah Honor Guard.
