Gary Allen Pitts

1940 - 2021

Gary Pitts
Annabella, Utah

Gary Allan Pitts, 80, passed away May 15, 2021 at his home in Annabella.  He was born October 31, 1940 in Provo to Charles Edwards and Yorda Ostergaard Pitts.

He married Sylvia White, August 26, 1961.  They had a son, Jason; later divorced.  He married Christina Burton, November 26, 1971. They had a son, Kevin; She preceded him in death in 1988.  He married Bethany Jane Herman, May 22, 2020 in Richfield.

He was devoted to family—they were the most important part of his life.

Gary’s career involved working on the electronics in minute man missiles and nuclear submarines.  He enjoyed guns and shooting.  He loved all kinds of animals but really enjoyed his dogs.

During his life he owned several Harley Davidson motorcycles and participated in Harley-Davidson rides all over the country; many of them charity rides to support good causes.

He went about doing good. Gary was always looking for ways to help others and finding a way to do it, in many cases, without his identity being known. He was a great example of Christ-like service to others.

Survived by his wife, Bethany, Annabella; sons: Jason Allan (Denise) Pitts, Hurricane; Kevin (April) Pitts, North Tustin, CA; 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; brothers: Ralph Pitts, Ted Pitts, both of Pleasant Grove.

Also preceded in death by his parents; siblings: LaVal, Lee, Glenn, Donna.

Dear Beth, Jason, Kevin and family:  I was deeply saddened to hear of the death of Uncle Gary.  My reflections over the past few days have brought to mind many special moments we have shared.  One of my earliest memories was being a flower girl at his wedding.  Another was a Lake Powell trip, traveling down in his van with the captain chair that swiveled.  Visiting in California and seeing many sites, Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, San Diego Zoo, and my only trip outside of the USA to Tijuana Mexico.  Gary's family moving to Cedar City during my first year of college and allowing me to spend time with them and babysit Jason and Kevin.
I am grateful that Gary moved to Annabella and was nearer to my Dad.  He was a great strength to Dad during the last few years.  What a joyous reunion is now being held on the other side of the veil as Gary meets with loved ones there.  I am thankful to have known my Uncle Gary.  Love to all his dear family.  Jewell Pitts Reynolds

I would like to extend my deepest sympathies over the loss of Gary.  My husband and I loved his association on our trips to Quartzsite.  He was a lot of fun to be around.  May y u be blessed with peace and comfort.  You will be in my prayers.
