Hal Bradley

Denver, Colorado

Harold "Hal" Wheeler Bradley IV, 33 passed away June 13, 2020 in Westminster, CO. The oldest son of Harold Wheeler Bradley III and Marget Jeanne Collette Bradley, was born April 6, 1987. His two older sisters Amber and Jasmyn watched out for him and he in turn took good care of his three younger siblings: Chase, Autumn and Giselle. Hal was a kind and patient brother.

As a young boy he was happy and inquisitive. He was passionate about learning and read every book he could find about dinosaurs and the solar system when he was young. That love of learning continued as he grew and developed even deeper questions about God, the meaning of life, and his purpose here on earth. He loved to debate any topic and was always reading and learning something new. Hal was a loyal friend and had many close friends throughout his life. He set the example for his younger brother Chase by becoming the first Eagle Scout in his family, the highest honor given a young man by the Boy Scouts of America. His community service included building a pinewood derby race car track for future area boy scouts to use.

Hal worked for years as a teenager at Scandia Family Fun Center to earn money for a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Mexico Torreon Mission where he learned to speak Spanish. He developed a great love for the Mexican people, their language and culture and loved to tell stories about the experiences he had in Mexico. It was on his mission that Hal started to struggle with an illness that would eventually take his life.

After his mission he met and married Ashley Ferrell in May 2009. They later divorced. In 2012 Hal moved to Dillon, Colorado for a fresh start. He loved the chilly temperatures, amazing hiking trails and beautiful vistas of the Colorado Rockies. He also loved being near his younger brother Chase, as they both lived in Colorado together and shared many happy memories there. He loved being a part of Chase’s family.

In 2018 Hal moved to St George, Utah in his continuing quest to learn, understand and manage his illness with the support of his parents and siblings. In June 2019 he returned to the state he loved and spent his last year on earth in his beautiful Colorado with his friend, Justin. Hal was imprisoned mentally and had a hard time feeling the love that others had for him, but to the end he remained kind, patient and passionate in his quest for truth and purpose in life. On June 13, 2020 Hal returned to live with our Heavenly Father. He is finally at peace and his most fundamental questions about God and the purpose of life will be answered.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Betty Ann Bradley. He is survived by his grandparents: Harold Wheeler Bradley Jr. (Ann), Littleton, CO; Ronald Gene and Ethel Bernice Collette, Panguitch, UT; father, Harold Wheeler Bradley III and mother Marget Jeanne Bradley, Washington, UT; and by five siblings: Amber (Ben) Spencer, Jasmyn (Marc) Nehring, Chase (Gloria) Bradley, Autumn (Matt) Rybin and Giselle (Chris) Rhodes; 11 nieces and nephews, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who were very dear to him.
