Jay Arlo Fjeldsted, age 88, passed away April 11, 2016 at his home in South Jordan. He was born on May 17, 1927 to Alvin and Elvena Anderson Fjeldsted in Centerfield, Utah.

Jay Arlo served in the US Army in Korea with the 213 th Field Artillery Battalion. He was honorably discharged in 1953.

Jay Arlo grew up in Centerfield, Utah were he worked on his father’s farm. He loved drawing and played the tenor sax in the school band. He loved playing basketball as a youth and later was an enthusiastic Utah Stars and Utah Jazz fan. He was an avid reader and loved fishing and enjoyed gardening. He was a gentleman farmer on his half acre of ground in South Jordan.

Jay Arlo was a self taught computer programmer and wrote estimating software for his employer in the late 1970s and later started his own marketing and sales businesses, selling computer software and systems, and was self employed for the rest of his career.

He is survived by his wife, Marion Hood Fjeldsted, and children: Stuart, Alison (Mike) Christensen, Peggy (Curtis) McDonald, Owen (Jennie) Fjeldsted and Arlyn (Danalyn) Fjeldsted, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Boyd, Donald and Ray; and sister, Reva.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 11:00 am in the South Jordan 3 rd Ward Chapel, 9750 South 2200 West, South Jordan, UT where friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30. Burial will be in the Centerfield Utah Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. with military rites by the Oliver-Russell American Legion Post #105 and Utah Honor Guard. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti
