Joseph L. Christensen

Las Vegas, Nevada

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Joseph L. Christensen, 75, returned home to his Heavenly Father on June 27, 2020 in Las Vegas, NV surrounded by family at his home. He was born on February 6, 1945 in Richfield, Utah to Karl Avery and Adeline Rose Stolpe Christensen.

Joe often shared memories of growing up in Central and surrounding areas while hunting, fishing and swimming in the canals around his home. As a young man he enjoyed playing sports, working the family farm and driving the milk truck around Sevier County before he had a license. He had a love of all sports and played them all well. While in high school, he met the love of his life Janet Moss. They were engaged before his mission to North Argentina. When he returned, they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 26, 1966. Joe continued his schooling at Brigham Young University where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. After graduation, they moved back to Richfield where he worked for Utah Department of Transportation. In 1990, Joe was hired with the City of Las Vegas as an Engineering Project Manager. He was instrumental in developing the flood detention basins all over Clark County. He worked until 2008 when he retired. Upon retirement he worked in the Las Vegas Temple with his wife Janet. Over the years he held multiple callings in the Church. The ones he loved most were working with the youth and Scouts. He loved being outside and made any excuse to go.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Janet; and their children: Wade (Amy) Christensen, Mckay (Tracy) Christensen, Jennifer (Ped) Palmer, Natalie (Scott) Oakley and Jessica (Travis) Ivie; he leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Marilyn (Craig) Daniels; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends whom he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Calvin and Robert.
