Joseph Ciserella

Marysvale, Utah

Joseph Edward Ciserella, 80, succumbed to cancer at the comfort of his daughter, Tina Winget’s home in St. George, surrounded by his family in the final weeks prior to his passing on August 7, 2019. Joe was born April 24, 1939 to John and Eleanor Keiss Ciserella in Markham, Illinois. He married his school sweetheart Sharon Thorn, who passed away May 6, 2018.

Joe raised his family in Tinley Park, Illinois and worked hard to provide his family all that life had to offer from raising horses to a life full of adventure traveling across the United States, camping, fishing and boating, with one trip landing them in Marysvale, Utah—becoming their permanent residence.

Joe was a "jack of all trades". He would spend countless hours "tinkering" in his work shops. He could do almost anything from building a campground, electrician by trade and later becoming "Bus Driver Joe" for the Piute School District for the remainder of his working years. He was active in the community volunteering as fire chief, president of the school district union, union representative, involved in many years of Marysvale’s Biggest Little Rodeo and horse races as well as volunteering for various youth programs camping, hiking and other support. In addition to raising 6 children, he was councilor at a boy’s home which led him and Sharon to fostering 3 boys who became family.

He retired in his early 60’s to travel with his wife Sharon. They spend many years touring in their motor home to destinations as far as Alaska, one of their "bucket list" adventures!

Joe loved the outdoors, fishing, camping, working in his shop, watching his favorite Chicago sports teams in his "favorite"chair, but most of all spending time with his entire family. He provided a life to remember full of laughter, joking, story-telling, teasing, dancing, singing and most of all advice giving. He had an undeniable strength, wisdom and attitude that you could accomplish anything. He wasn’t a big man in stature, but he was larger than life in attitude and living life to its fullest.

Joe was a devout Catholic, from his early childhood years as an altar boy to his later years as a lector. His strong faith in his religion helped him through his final days and in knowing he would join his heavenly Father and his beloved Sharon.

He leaves behind his children: Joseph (Jessica) Ciserella, O’Neill, Nebraska; Theresa "Tia" Ciserella-Lemieux, Sicamous, British Columbia; Antoinette "Toni" Ciserella, Marysvale; Christina "Tina" Winget, St. George; Frank (Nichol) Ciserella, Idaho; Michael (Candace) Ciserella, Richfield; Victor, James and David Jurardo; 18 grandchildren; 25 great- grandchildren; siblings: John (Anne) Ciserella and Susan Racine, both of Port Charlotte, Florida.

Joe is also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Cload; and brother, Robert Ciserella.

The family would like to thank Zions Way Hospice for their love and support for Joe and his family.
