Lorin Klar Oldroyd, 89, of Richfield, Utah, died at his home on Saturday, August 12, 2017 with dear family at his side. He was born in Glenwood, Utah on May 23, 1928 to Andrew and Celia C. Sorensen Oldroyd. He was the seventh of eight children, who preceded him in death

Klar’s earliest memories were of chores: chickens, cattle, cows, tromping hay and gathering wood. He graduated from Richfield High School where he was senior class president. He also graduated from Snow College and then attended the University of Utah where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. After graduation he served in the Air Force for 4 years during the Korean War, returning home in 1955. Later that year he married Barbara Jean Grange in the Idaho Falls Temple. They are the parents of five boys: Paul K. (Debra) Oldroyd, Texas; David Todd Oldroyd, California; Robert G. deceased (Linda) Oldroyd, North Carolina; Richard A. Oldroyd, Utah; and Matthew (Lisa) Oldroyd, North Carolina. They also have 9 grandchildren.

Klar loved sports and participated in all sports in high school and college. He had a great love for golf and enjoyed playing with sons and friends all his life. He also loved music and the mountains.

Throughout his life he was a faithful member of the LDS Church serving in many callings including: bishop, high councilman and as a councilor in the stake presidency. Klar and his wife Barbara were ordinance workers in the Manti Temple for 15 years where he was a sealer.

Klar worked at Salina Drug and then moved to Richfield, working at Merrill’s Drug until buying the store which became L. K. Pharmacy. After selling L. K. Pharmacy, he worked part-time for Albertson’s Pharmacy. He worked as a pharmacist for 52 years.

He was a great influence for good in the community and through his service in the church. As a husband, father and friend, Klar will be remembered as a quiet, gentle man of integrity, kindness, wisdom and charity.
