Patricia Gillespie
St. George, Utah

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Patricia Elizabeth Bryan Gillespie, passed away on June 12, 2022 at the age of 83 in Manti, Utah.  After 43 years of cancer in remission, she courageously battled a recurrence of breast cancer. She showed her courage in facing life challenges with a smile.  Despite the pain, she came out a hero, and stayed strong until the end.

Pat was born on May 8, 1939 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Richard Maurice Phelps and Harriet “Peg” Margaret Smith. She married Robert Jefferies Lawrence, later divorced. She married Hal Gillespie in September, 2000 in Moab, UT. They have been married for 22 years.

Pat graduated from Tooele High School where she was active in student government and marching band. She was employed at Eimco for many years as a secretary and purchasing agent.
Pat was always patient, kind, loving and supportive.  She loved her family deeply and she meant so much to her children and grandchildren. They looked forward to their birthday card arriving right on their birthday.  She crocheted an afghan for each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved her friends in St. George and Salt Lake and treasured their friendships, speaking of them often.   May we all live our lives the way she did, treating others with respect, finding the good in all things and loving family unconditionally.
Pat and Hal were avid bowlers and golfers. She found great joy in serving as president of many bowling leagues, participating in bowling and golf tournaments and spending time with her husband, Hal and friends, playing bingo.  She has been active her whole life and loved her association with different organizations and serving others.

She is survived by her husband, Hal Gillespie, St. George; children: Robert (Shelley) Lawrence, West Jordan; Karen (Korry) Soper, Manti; Tom (Lynette) Lawrence, Gilbert, AZ; Joanie Gillespie (David) Las Vegas, NV; sisters: Lonna (Max) Cropper, Orangeville; Lori (Mike) Lynch, Mesquite, NV; 18 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; sister, Janet Fox; and step-son, Brent Gilliespie.
