Obituary

Scott Dastrup

Phoenix, AZ/Formerly of Sigurd

Scott Reeve Dastrup, 64, passed away in the early morning on Friday August 7, 2020, in Florence, AZ.

Scott had a deep and profound love for the Savior. He loved unconditionally and gave everything he had with no expectation of return. He showed many that there is no greater freedom felt in this life than to forgive and let go. He loved singing hymns with his beautiful baritone voice, and never even needed to open a hymn book because he had all the words memorized.

Born in Sigurd Utah, November 28, 1955, he was the son of Marylene and Evan Lamar Dastrup. He served an LDS mission in Lima Peru for two years. He attended Brigham Young University for his bachelor’s degree and went on to complete his MBA at the University of Utah. He raised his family and lived the rest of his life in the Phoenix area where he touched countless lives. He was constantly dreaming of the next big thing and had professions as a stockbroker, banker, high level corporate America, real estate, owning and managing dental practices, but ultimately found his passion back at his roots in farming and growing algae for fertilizer.

Scott was able to pack 150 years in his 64 years of life on Earth. He loved his family, Arizona, riding dirt bikes, going boating at the lake, flying airplanes, singing karaoke, and spoiling his grandchildren. The word "quit" didn’t exist in his vocabulary, and that completely defined his legacy. His work ethic and drive were boundless. His determination was relentless, as was his love for his family and country. He had the best, most contagious laugh and smile. He had the heart of a lion and would drop everything to serve people. Countless times he drove through the night to come to the rescue, and then would turn right around and drive through the night back home to get to work the next morning. He had a really special talent of building people up around him and making them believe that they could do anything, always focusing on their strengths.

He is survived by his children Scarlett (spouse Rick and children Kohlter, Eva, and Giselle) Rabe, Joseph (spouse Lindsey and children Max, Claire, and Zeia) Dastrup, Franchesca (spouse Jason and children Oliver and William) Retford, Lori (spouse Nathan and children Reese, Crew, Eloise, and Parks) Miller, Daniel (spouse Jade and children Beau and Colby) Dastrup, Samuel (spouse Shayla and children Adrie and Raylee) Dastrup, Michelle (spouse Zach) Lee, Angelica Dastrup, Nathan Dastrup, and Abby Dastrup; and his siblings: Kenn, Pat, Jerald, Jeanne, Camille, Sherrie, Deanna, Paula, Annette, Kaye, and Randy. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Evan Glenn, James Brian, and William Stanley.

The family invites you to join the Scott Reeve Dastrup Memorial Page on Facebook for those who would like to share their memories, stories, and any pictures they have that can be enjoyed for all.

In his honor and in lieu of flowers, please spend that money to "pig out!" and buy all your favorite foods and ice cream and share it with your loved ones like Scott loved to do.
