Sherwin Broderick

Gunnison, Utah

Sherwin Broderick passed away on August 4, 2020 at the care facility in Centerfield, Utah. He was 83 years old. He was born to Ferry Clement Broderick and Fanny Irene Pearce in Emery, Utah on April 8, 1937. He was the youngest of eight children.

Sherwin was raised in Emery and attended school in Emery and Ferron. From a young age, he loved to joke around and had a great sense of humor. He loved anything with moving mechanisms. In so many ways, he was ahead of his time with creating and designing several inventions - including a side-by-side, a houseboat, and a pop-up camper. Sherwin could fix anything and his repairs often included bailing wire, duct tape and W-D 40.

He worked for IBM for 9 years as a typewriter technician before starting his own typewriter business. He involved his entire family in his business and set the example of being a responsible and dependable hard worker.

Sherwin married the love of his life, Ann Marie Noelte, on June 10, 1967, in the Los Angeles Temple. Others couldn’t help but notice the special love Sherwin had for his sweetheart from his kindness and sweet flirting towards her. Five children: four sons and a daughter, were born in Sherwin’s family. He raised them in Chandler, Arizona and Las Vegas, Nevada. Anywhere Sherwin lived, he loved to tinker in his workshop and was always actively involved in his kids’ lives and in helping others.

Sherwin was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had the gift of obedience and faith and always proved himself trustworthy. He was a devoted Scout leader and loved the young men. With his example, all his boys are Eagle Scouts. Whenever a service was needed, Sherwin showed up with a smile on his face before any assignments were even made. He served a mission as a young man to the Northern States. Later in his life, he and his beloved wife served a mission in Bangalore, India.

Sherwin was a friend to all, young and old. He was nonjudgmental and was so good at making others feel important and loved. Sherwin suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for a few years, but he was able to keep his sense of humor and pleasant disposition to the end.

Sherwin is survived by his wife, Ann Marie; children: Lee (Janet) Broderick, Gridley, IL; JoAnn (Evan) Nef, Idaho Falls, IDd; Rick (Melinda) Broderick, Pahrump, NV; Ryan (Amber) Broderick, New Braunfels, TX; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his seven siblings, and his son Noel.
