Vergie Gray Christensen Batdorf, 100, passed away January 26, 2020 in San Carlos, California. Vergie was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Vergie was born April 3, 1919 in Richfield to Leonard Benjamin Christensen and Beatrice Gray, the second of four children.

Her growing up years was a happy time for Vergie. She began learning to play the piano at age six and a girlfriend taught her to play the saxophone. Her mother paid for her lessons by selling the butter she made from cream. Vergie learned to work hard on the family farm thinning beets. She attended Richfield High School where she excelled in shorthand and typing. Following high school, she attended one year at BYU. She worked at the Richfield Bank until she moved to Washington, D. C., then to San Francisco, California. It was there she met Clarence Eugene Batdorf. They were married July 12, 1946 in Richfield, Utah on the family farm. They raised their family in the San Francisco Bay Area, primarily in San Mateo and Belmont. She worked for 35 years using her office skills.

`Upon retirement, Vergie and Clarence enjoyed many adventures traveling the world together and spending time with their family.

Vergie is survived by her husband; daughters: Beverly McDonald (Ralph) and Kerry Exeter (Garey); daughter-in-law, Barbara Batdorf; grandchildren: Kristen McDonald (Colin), Rebecca Exeter Earl (Kirk), Kayte McDonald (Joel), Alicia Exeter Cordova (Julian), Brenna McDonald (Nick), Erik Exeter (Ahren), and Ronald Batdorf (Justine), Rachael Exeter Christensen and Emilee Exeter Jacobson (Mikey); and 8 great-grandchildren; sister, LuJeanne Ogden. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Ronald Eugene Batdorf; siblings: Boyd (Vanola) Christensen; Vauna (AJ) Ashman; brother-in-law, Gerald.
