Wayne Boucher

d. March 22, 2020

Wayne Boone Boucher, 76, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2020 in his home in Elsinore, Utah. He was born on February 20, 1944 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was the fourth of five children born to James William and Luzell Cahoon Boucher.

Wayne attended Grossmont College in San Diego and Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where he studied Spanish, English, and drama. After serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Mexico City Mission, Wayne courted Ann and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan, Utah Temple on June 16, 1967.

Over the next several years, they welcomed six children into their lives: Andrew, David, Samuel, Sarah, Joseph, and Jacob. During that time, Wayne worked as a high school teacher, bookmobile librarian, manager in retail sales, all around fix-it man, and a building contractor. In his many occupations, Wayne exhibited an incomparable work ethic which he passed along to this children.

Wayne has always been an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He lovingly served his community as a bishop, stake missionary, gospel instructor, ward clerk, and in many other callings. Those he taught and served will always remember his kindness, heartfelt lessons, and his powerful testimony of Jesus Christ. At his passing, he and Ann were faithfully serving a service mission at the Remote Operations Center in Monroe, Utah.

Though he was a great leader in the Church, his first and foremost calling was that of a lifelong student of the gospel. Wayne’s self-proclaimed hobby was reading, and he would always say that many people did not consider reading to be a hobby but that to him it was. He could always be found reading anything from the encyclopedia to the scriptures to the joke pages in old Boy’s Life magazines. He often taught what he learned from his reading especially when it concerned the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Wayne was a devoted husband and father. He loved and doted on Ann for over 52 years, and he loved spending time together as a family. He took the family on vacations, camp-outs, cookouts, movies, and many other family events. He was always happy and jovial and was willing to share his quirky humor and his latest dry joke whenever he had an audience. According to Wayne, an eye roll was as good a reaction to his puns as a chuckle.

Wayne is survived by his wife: Ann Louise Caraway Boucher; siblings: Yvonne Lee Clark, James Allen (Torla) Boucher, Ethel Lyne (Richard) Barnes, and Laura Luzell Seavey; children: Andrew Boone (Rebecca) Boucher, David William (Nicole) Boucher, Samuel James (ShaNee) Boucher, Sarah Elizabeth Boucher, Joseph Wayne (Jennifer) Boucher, and Jacob Adam (Cody) Boucher; grandchildren: Amy (Benjamin) Hubbard, Luaren Boucher, Michael (Kodee) Boucher, Joshua Boucher, Brittney Boucher, Lauryl Boucher, Hunter Boucher, Samuel Boucher, Kade Boucher, Elizabeth Boucher, Harlan Boucher, Jace Boucher, Cambria Boucher, Elsie Boucher, Greyson Boucher, and Maren Boucher; great-grandchildren: Emma Hubbard, Cooper Hubbard, Harlee Boucher, and Emery Boucher. He was preceded in death by his parents.
