The Magleby 1938 Packard Henney Hearse
The Magleby 1938 Packard Henney Hearse
This 1938 Packard-Henney Hearse is one of a kind . After many years of searching we finally found an original and authentic 1938 Packard Henney hearse that has been beautifully preserved and restored. It represents and pays tribute to a special period in time that is important to the Magleby family.
The 1938 Packard-Henney Hearse has a lot of meaning to me, my family and the employees of Magleby Mortuary. It’s a part of the 134 years of serving Utah families in funeral service.
My grandfather, Neal S. Magleby started as a Funeral Director in 1936 and received his Funeral Directors license in 1938. My father Alma Magleby was born in 1938. They both searched for many years, trying to find this type of hearse. To our family and community it shows our commitment, longevity and the honor it has been to serve Utah families along with surrounding states over the years.
Our Mortuary was established in Richfield, Utah in 1892. There have been many
amazing and dedicated funeral directors over the years. Along with many long hours, long nights, holidays and weekends, along with difficult, loving and very special, emotional experiences with thousands of families over the years. We have cried, laughed, hugged and made incredible friends over the many years throughout this time .
A few years ago we were able to obtain a horse drawn hearse from the 1890’s representing and honoring our establishment and previous owners. We now have a 1938 Packard Henney hearse representing the Magleby family, my grandfather’s beginnings and my father, Alma’s, birth year in 1938. It holds a very special meaning to our family.
My father, Alma, always wanted to restore our 1974 Cadillac hears. He has since passed away and in his honor, we have restored it. It also has special meaning, not only my father’s wishes, but is also the same timeframe that I was born and represents an era in funeral service in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Neal, Alma and long time funeral director for Magleby Mortuary, Gary Lewis , all served many families and traveled thousands of miles in the 1974 hearse. I even remember taking the old 74 on funerals with my Grandpa, Neal and Dad, Alma.
From the horse drawn hearse, to the 1938 Packard Henney hearse, to The 1974 Cadillac and now the modern Park Hill Cadillac. This is another new era of me, Kelly Magleby, and my amazing, professional and compassionate funeral directors, Joe Christensen, Mark Howard, and Killick Mickelson and staff. We are all honored and grateful for our history, the years of commitment and the dedication to funeral service to so many families!
A legacy of 134 years of outstanding service, experience, dedication and compassion!
You can count on The Magleby’s compassionate service, professionalism, legacy, dedication and commitment to funeral service not only now but for many years to come.
